Exhibitions: They Captured Post-Punk NYC Clubs of the '80s

Sean Corcoran, a curator of prints and photographs at the Museum of the City of New York, was in kindergarten when photographer Pat Ivers and sociology major Emily Armstrong were amassing an image archive of post-punk bands playing in New York clubs in the 1980s. But Corcoran was fascinated by the era, and he has put together the exhibition “New York, New Music: 1980-1986,” which features images and videos from Ivers and others that celebrate what the NY Times calls “the joyously uncommercial cousin of new wave.”
