In Focus: Drew Arrieta Captures Tense Moments in Minnesota

Over the past year Saint Paul, Minnesota-based photojournalist Drew Arrieta has spent considerable time at Black Lives Matter protests and related events on water protection, immigration rights, gun violence, and police reform. He tells the Columbia Journalism Review that the tense moments he spent waiting to hear how the jury would rule in the trial of  Derek Chauvin were “the most nervous hour ever.” To cover the story, Arrieta rejected the “parachute style” of journalism in favor of a family approach, adds CJR.
