The NY Art Book Fair at MoMA PS 1
The sixth annual New York Art Book Fair (NYABF) is back at MoMA PS1 with a hi-voltage program of exhibitions, conferences, book signings, and live music—in addition to miles of books from the world over.

This year, the special exhibition on the main floor features photography artists’ books. In the courtyard is ZINE’S MATE, with an exhibition of artists’ books published by Japanese women. Also in the courtyard is the e-flux book coop - an airstream trailer 'art books-mobile' that will embark on a global tour following the NYABF.
A special exhibition of one hundred vintage British Punk fanzines, also compiled in a single volume by PPP Editions, is on the third floor, while Gallery U, also on three, hosts The Classroom, a series of informal conversations, workshops, readings and other artist-led programs, organized by David Senior of the MoMA Library. Book signings are scheduled on the hour and held primarily in the main lobby.
In addition, the Contemporary Artists’ Books Conference runs on Friday and Saturday with six ninety-minute panel sessions. Topics covered include the state of artists’ books criticism, new pedagogical approaches and audiences, artists’ books in Latin America, and samizdat as a model for radical distribution among others. The regular sessions will be followed by an hour-long pecha kucha, or lightning round, in which invited guests will each present for five minutes, discussing one or more artists' books, zines, or multiples. This year's keynote speaker is artist Tauba Auerbach.
The New York Art Book Fair is organized by Printed Matter, Inc. and runs from September 30 to October 2. A preview is being held tonight, from 6-9 pm. All events are free an open to the public. MoMA PS 1, 22-25 Jackson Avenue at 46th Avenue, Long Island City, NY. Information.
