A DART Streetscape Report

When Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week left Bryant Park for a larger plot at Lincoln Center, some of the edgy fashion vibe must have saturated the turf at 42nd and Sixth.
Yesterday, to celebrate M-B Fashion Week 2011, Target opened a spectacular pop-up store opposite the park to promote a new line designed for the mass-market retailer by the Italian fashion juggernaut, Missoni. The vibe was evident in the Bryant Park tent where a 25-foot-tall Missoni doll with incredibly animated eyes welcomed fashionistas to what would undoubtedly become a stampede when the store opened 6:00 pm. And the scene was a lively reminder that Our Fair City has what it takes to lure the allure, whatever else is going on.
According to the PR buzz, the pop-up, scheduled to continue through Saturday, would close when the merch runs out. And the buzz suggested that would more than likely occur by noon today. But the good news is: the stylish Missoni zigzag dresses and accessories will be in Target stores nationwide on September 13th. For now, eat your hearts out….
