Last week, long-time contributors to DART—and it must be said, professional colleagues of the editor—announced major changes in their careers. This from Photograph Magazine:

Steven Kasher has announced that he is closing his eponymous gallery at the end of the year to become director of David Zwirner. Cassandra Johnson, sales director at Steven Kasher Gallery, will be moving to the Zwirner gallery as well.

Stephen Frailey, former chair of the photography department at SVA and the founder and editor of Dear Dave, magazine, is the director of a new initiative in education, Labs School, at Red Hook Labs in Brooklyn. Opening in January of 2019, the Labs School will offer workshops in critique, large-format photography, and virtual reality, among other subjects, as well as a variety of master workshops by artists including Taryn Simon, Laurie Simmons, Ryan McGinley, and Penelope Umbrico, among others.

Additionally, Michael Carabatta, who has been the creative motor at Chronicle Books for 27 years, helping to grow the company from a staff of 50 to 175, announced that he will be retiring at year’s end. Michael will continue teaching at the University of California, and “remain in the saddle of one of my six bikes,” he added. He also mentioned that the next book with his name under the title, Seasons of the Moon, will be out next fall. All best wishes, and God bless you Michael.
