Chronicle's Crowd-Sourced Competition

Today, at the National Stationery Show being held at the Javitz Center in New York, Chronicle Books announced a global competition for notecard designs. Designers from around the world are invited to submit finished art for notecards to Minted (www.minted.com/contest) through May 24. Four different notecard designs will be chosen by Chronicle Books Executive Editor Christina Amini and her colleagues. These cards will be included in Chronicle’s chic, new portfolio format, which holds eight notecards.

The four notecard portfolios will be sold on Chronicle’s website at www.chroniclebooks.com, in Chronicle Book stores, and in boutiques and bookstores around the world. They will also be offered in a “Best of Minted” notecards portfolio, complete with envelopes and the name of the designer featured on the back of each individual card.

 “This is the first time Chronicle has sourced stationery design through a design competition,” says Christina Amini, Executive Editor, Chronicle Books.“ We chose Minted because of the strength of its design community and the originality and beauty of the designs its community consistently produces. We can’t wait to see what Minted’s community comes up with.”

In addition, the Minted community will rate all designs submitted to determine which designs will be sold as custom stationery on Minted. Over $5,000 in cash prizes will be awarded in the challenge. Designers will receive ongoing commissions on the sales of their work from both Minted and Chronicle Books.
