Art for Artists' Sake, 2011
CALLING ALL ARTISTS: Make art to support cancer patients and the visual arts. The Rema Hort Mann Foundation invites you to submit drawings, paintings, mixed media - whatever is your passion - as long as it is done on a sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 paper provided.
WHY: Your works on paper will be sold at auction to support the Foundation's activities, which include grants to artists and special funds for people undergoing trteatment for cancer.
"Looking at a piece of art and wanting it is a pure form of love," says Foundation Director Quang Bao. "No buzz, no crazy press releases, no critics, no sales record, no whispers into your ear - just buy it using your gut - and for a good cause, too."

Above: A few of the hundreds of pieces of art that were sold at the BWYL Auction last year at Jack Shainman Gallery.
HOW: Email rhmfoundation@gmail.com your name, address and phone number to The Rema Hort Mann Foundation telling them you want to participate. Use subject line: BWYL, rsvp. When you receive the paper, do your thing: drawing, collage, oil, sculpture, print on both sides, rip it up, throw it down the XYZ…etc. The only rule is that you must use the drawing paper provided. On the back of the sheet, place the title, date, and medium, then sign it. Please do not put your name on the front because the Foundation will not be able to include your work in this "silent" art sale. The second sheet of paper is for a tryout or for you to keep.
DEADLINE: Friday, February 25, 2011, 5:00 pm.
Mail or drop off your art to:
