Industry News: Michele McNally Is Retiring from The NY Times

By David Schonauer   Monday February 26, 2018

Michele McNally, the assistant managing editor for photography at The New York Times for the past 14 years, will be retiring this summer, reports the National Press Photographers Association. The announcement came in a memo to the Times staff from Executive Editor Dean Baquet and Managing Editor Joseph Kahn. The Times has won six Pulitzers for photography since 2009, with five of those coming in the last four years. McNally is the first photo editor to be elevated to a masthead editor at the Times. A search for a replacement will begin both inside the Times staff and from outside candidates.
