Editor's Note-2: This just in from Blake Ziddell, a Friend of DART through the New York Photo Festival: I want to let you know about a photo contest that the World Festival of Black Arts & Cultures just launched. The deadline is this Sunday, December 5th. mid-day GMT.
The contest is open to photographers age 35 or under and jurors include Emanoel Araujo, artist, director of the Afro-Brasil Museum in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Deborah Willis, photography professor and director of the Tisch School of the Arts (New York University), United States; Ousseynou Wade, director of the Dakar Biennale, Senegal; Sindika Dokolo, contemporary art collector, Dokolo Foundation, DRC, Angola; Marie-Cécile Zinsou, director of the Zinsou Foundation , Cotonou, Benin
The festival, which starts Dec 10 and takes place in Dakar,
Senegal, aims to be the biggest gathering to date of black artists and thinkers. The winners will be brought to the awards ceremony on December 21 in Dakar. Also, the winning pictures will be uploaded
