Moving Image New York. Volta NY. The Armory Show’s sister fair and Basel import, celebrates its 10th year presenting highly curated solo artist projects from 96 galleries in 45 cities around the world. The Volta Salon, organized this year by artnet, offers panel discussions and presentations on subjects including political trends as they affect artist; higher education; improv for artists, art and tech, to name a few. ADDA The Art Show. New York’s first art fair, presented by the Art Dealers Association of America, presents its 29th edition at the Park Avenue Armory. Spring Break Art Show. This year, the rogue art fair takes over a floor in the old Conde Nast building on Times Square, presenting art and installations by 400 artists selected by 150 curators on the theme of the Black Mirror. The Armory Show. The 23rd edition of this art world stalwart has been expanded to over 200 galleries from 30 countries around the world. The Focus section is titled “What is to Be Done,” featuring 12 solo exhibitions by artists concerned with social and political issues. New this year is Platform, curated by Eric Shiner, featuring large-scale artworks, installations and commissions by 14 internationally acclaimed artists. Armory Live, an interactive program of talks, live events and screenings hosted at the fair and online, presents 4 to 4 events each day of the fiar, with artists including David Salle, Marilyn Minter and Alex Katz; curators including Chrissie Iles, Eric Shiner and Jeffrey Deitch; and arts writers including Glenn O’Brien and Orit Gat. Independent. This tightly curated art fair presents more than 50 exhibitors fro 20 cities around the world, with works selected along five currently visible themes: 1980s generation artists, work from the 1970s, intergenerational groupings, site-specific installations, and solo shows by women artists. NADA. Organized by the New Art Dealers Alliance, the fair, which used to take place concurrent with Fireze New York, in May, has moved into Armory Arts Week this year. NADA Presents in Collaboration with Kickstarter: a series of performances, conversations and events highlighting new voices in contemporary art and culture. Clio Art Fair. The only art fair in the roster to showcase the work of independent artists without gallery representation, this self-described “anti-fair…seeks to foster a dialogue that transcends prescribed geographies, hierarchies, and markets; and to further opportunities for greater expression of new media and ever ground-breaking content.” And it’s free.
