DFLA Spotlight: Iggy Smalls on Venezuela's "(Barely) Bread & Circus"

By the end of 2016, Venezuela had an official inflation rate of 180.5 percent — one of the highest in the world, notes photographer and DFLA reader Iggy Smalls at her website. Moreover, she adds, Caracas reportedly has the world’s highest murder rate, while basics such as chicken and toilet paper are being rationed by the government. Smalls, who graduated with a BFA in Photography & Imaging from the Ringling College of Art & Design in 2015 and is currently based in Barcelona, Spain, documents everyday life in Caracas in her series “(Barely) Bread & Circus.”
