Tarragon Goes On View at Exit Art

By Peggy Roalf   Tuesday June 15, 2010

When Andy Warhol proclaimed that everyone would eventually have 15 minutes of fame, I'm pretty sure he wasn't including characters from the plant world in that equation. However, Tarragon, who has gained quite a following from a mere two appearances in DART, will soon appear in the terrariums that are part of Ecoaesthetic, an exhibition opening this Thursday at Exit Art.

For readers who missed the previous installments of this saga, Tarragon survived a harsh New York winter in my subsistence window box herb farm, thanks to protective branches of fir left over from the Christmas decor. She will be joined in the Ecoaesthetic Terrarium by Sage, another survivor from last summer's plantings.

But here's the best part: Everyone who grows plants at home is invited to participate in the Ecoaesthetic Terrarium project. All you have to do is email a digital photo of yourself with your plant to the curator (curatorial@exitart.org), then deliver your plant to Exit Art by this Thursday. All the information is pasted in below.

The opening reception for Ecoaesthetic is Friday, June 18th, 7-10 pm. The exhibition includes photographs by Edward Burtynsky (Canada); Mitch Epstein (USA); Anthony Hamboussi (USA); Chris Jordan (USA); Christopher LaMarca (USA); Sze Tsung Leong (USA); David Maisel (USA); Susannah Sayler/The Canary Project (USA) and Jo Syz (UK). 061510

Exit Art is located at 475 Tenth Avenue, corner of 36th Street. For more information please call 212.966.7745. The following information about the Terrarium project came by email yesterday:
