Ask an Artist: Steve Brodner

By Peggy Roalf   Wednesday December 3, 2014

When the news about possible Republican candidates for the presidency is so grim that even NPR’s Morning Edition spends much of its energy covering the always effusive governor of New Jersey, it’s time for a closer look. So I asked Steve Brodner to share his thoughts on Chris Christie. This is what he wrote:

Not satisfied with being an obnoxious bore in New Jersey, Chris Christie is now moving this franchise to Iowa where people are smart enough to tell the difference between a farmer and a cow; and whose style is to keep their more extreme positions muffled discretely in their church vestments. Culturally and politically ill-suited to the Midwest, it will be interesting to see what happens to Christie in 2016. In the probable crack-up there should be omelettes for everybody!

Steve Brodner is a satiric illustrator based in NY. His work has appeared in most major publications in the US, as well as web animations for PBS, The New Yorker and Slate. He has been a regular contributor to Rolling Stone, Esquire, Harper's, Sports Illustrated, The Nation and The New Yorker, for which he has worked on over 200 projects. He is currently working on a visual history project on the presidents of the United States for Nation Books. Website; Full bio here;  DART Q&A
