Cidade de Deus. March 2017. Large-scale poster of the Brazilian film City of God - a story about how Cidade de Deus, a community built in the 60s in Rio de Janeiro came to be one the most dangerous places in the country. It depicts a life of crime, and the lives of those unfortunately caught in its path. The project demanded judicious use of color, so this piece was done in black and white on scratchboard, and then digitallly colored.

According to my vision, satisfied pleasure is like a tree that blooms and that is why I represented a calm, peaceful, blooming monkey.

Dalin & Xiaolin, one of the most famous fairy tales written by Zhang Tianyi in the early 1930s, tells a story about the adventures of ten-year-old twin brothers Dalin and Xiaolin after their parents die. One day they flee from a monster and lose contact with each other. Dalin is adopted by a millionaire and becomes a parasite only fond of eating and doing nothing. At the end he drifts to the island of the Rich Man, where numerous treasures can be found but no food. Dalin dies of hunger on the island in the end because he does not know any practical survival skills. By contrast, Xiaolin works extremely hard and overcomes numerous hardships. He has a good heart and is always ready to help others. As a result, he earns his colleagues’ respect and is able to make a good living.

I created this illustration for the Chilean newspaper Las Últimas Noticias. I had just a few hours to come up with a concept and then make this illustration happen. The article´s topic was: "Getting great ideas while you shower". At that time I was obsessed with Mondrian´s work, so there is something of him in this piece. Publication : Las Últimas Noticias.

Stop The Press; Clean Up Time. June 2017. Reportage series on the final years of a flexographic label printer in Fairfield, NJ. After five decades on press, when the shop goes quiet, the skill and blue collar experience once prevalent in the greater metropolitan area will fade, albeit slowly, as the older middle class retires and a lower waged workforce of the Midwest and overseas dominate manufacturing.
