Patria o Muerte
"Patria o Muerte" navigates the last years of Cuban and Venezuelan revolutions in decline without fear of clichés because it deepens with a search installed in the ambiguity through diptychs: what is left? what survives? what is remembered? how is the present memory of a political, economic and social transformation in process? who can replace their historical leaders? what could happen next?
The project is structured through symbols and metaphors that represent actual Socialism; the remembrance of Communism; the utopia of the "new man" Cuban revolution and how it has been replicated in Venezuela. It also shows dependency on; the love-hate relationship to Capitalism; and their struggle against embargo and isolation, which continues to bring poverty and difficulties in quite a lot aspects of life, infrastructure and commodities. Also presents a view on corruption, use of power and military absolutism, lack of freedom of speech and fear to express feelings.
The book is published by La Luminosa Editorial as winner of PREMIO LATINOAMERICANO FELIFA 2018.
