San Francisco’s “Watcher” runs an unofficial parking service behind The Midway, charging $20 to watch cars. Though illegal, he stays, earning hundreds a night. My illustration captures him under streetlights, a quiet sentry of the night, embodying the city’s unseen hustlers and underground economy.
