Food and Family Series. Food is near and dear to my heart because meals can bond us. My grandmother did the most to make her daughter’s birthday special. She was known for her cakes. This painting is part of a series representing moments spent in the kitchen with my grandmother, aunts, and my mother making meals for family gatherings, singing songs, laughing, and watching and waiting for deliciousness to manifest.
