Mourning Under The Sun
A fashion advertising piece inspired by the Victorian culture of mourning, this piece of work expresses concern and anxiety about the exploitation of natural resources. The embroidered wound at the neck of the garment is a visual symbol of the exploitation and abuse of natural resources and the looting of them, while the female model represents nature and the environment in which humans live. If the inhabitants of the earth continue to exploit natural resources without restraint, then Mother Nature in her mourning garments will go down in the sun for the funeral of all mankind.
