The main protagonist is Eugene Onegin, a bored, selfish and cynic St. Petersburg dandy. He spurns the love of the shy, bookish Tatyana intensely drawn to him. We represented the complex psychology with the symbols of nature: the Russian countryside, woods, winter, snow, fire. Acrylic and digital.

The art accompanies the original story "Men Who Wish to Drown" by Elizabeth Fama for Tor.com. This deathbed letter from a great-grandfather to his great-grandson is cited as the only extant firsthand record of a mermaid encounter in New England waters, in the late 1800s. Acrylic and digital.

Our task was to create a bedding set for 8-12 year olds, including a duvet cover, fitted sheets, and an accessory. The concept for mine was a self sufficient underground community with a library, a garden, an aquarium, and much more. When I was a kid, I loved the ISPY books and creating forts, so I let that inspire the pattern for a duvet cover.

"What a salad" is a children's book, which tells of an extraordinary day shared between a little girl and her grandmother, where they travel from reality to imagination all while preparing a salad together. This book emphasizes the bond and relationship between generations. I worked with various forms of mixed media, collage, paint, drawing and ink to create a surreal fantasy that matches the storyline with the illustrations. I created this book as a tribute to Didile, my grandmother.

"Bloody Chamber" created for Angela Carter’s collection of short stories "The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories". Is based on the famous tale of Bluebeard. Carter's version is set in the 1920's and relates the story of a young piano student from a poor family who marries an wealthy older businessman. They travel to his castle where the young bride has many horrific experiences. The succession of mirrors in the illustration portrays the dramatic events from the bride's point of view and invites the reader into a dark psychological and physical space. The illustration captures the surreal qualities of the story as opposed to picturing that which is described in great detail through language.
The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories

"The Erl-King" is created for Angela Carter’s collection of short stories "The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories". This story is one of the few in the collection not based on an existing fairy tale. "The Erl-King" is the most poetic piece in the book and is lighter in tone. Angela Carter creates a dreamy account of a young woman that enters a forest and is charmed by the mysterious environment and Erl-King himself, only to find she is trapped. The illustration uses metaphor to capture the mental state of the character, depicting Siren's trapped in cages in the master's kitchen.

Illustration of 1/78 cards in a tarot deck. Light Grey Art Lab's Tarot Mystics and The Occult exhibition
Adroit and a quick learner, 8 of Pentacles is grounded and diligent. Quality is more important than quantity and this card is focused on the task at hand. Reversely, while practice makes perfect, the quest for perfection can lead to vanity, too much focus on profit for labours or ignoring the world outside the task...

I drew a cartoon adaptation of Joyce's story "Araby" from 'Dubliners' for 'The Graphic Canon' vol. 3 from Seven Stories Press, and I padded out a reprint of the story with a short adaptation of an excerpt from 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man,' which continues "Araby"'s coming-of-age story themes. I created this cover for the minicomic. Issue Press printed it with their Risograph. I took a page from Paul Buckley's 'Graphic Classics' series for Penguin, and in particular Chris Ware's cover for 'Candide.' Once a reader sees comics on the cover, they often begin reading before they've even realized they've made a decision to read.

"Patufet (Tom Thumb)" Illustrated album of the story of Patufet as compiled by the catalan folklorist Joan Amades.
In my search of the original story of this little boy called Patufet, the story itself touches themes which lie in the most profound levels of the unconscious. Images like the ox, the little boy that has to grow, the scatology of the boy that has been swallowed by the ox and that won´t come out until the ox has shitted him...
As most of the original stories is not only for children, and doesn´t have a beautiful ending, but it is a rite of passage.

"Bearbrick + Timepiece" The project was conceived by editor Jason Jaehyun kim to celebrate and combine both modern pop culture phenomenon, bearbricks and time-honored traditions of iconic watch brands that stand the test of time. NYC based fashion designer and illustrator, Soyoon Park focused on the distinctive elements of what makes each timepiece truly iconic over the years with their triumphs in technology and design. Most importantly, she tried to highlight and capture the unique brand images that each timepiece has established due to their successful association strategy with aviation, airline, leisure sports and diamond industries. Her elaborate watercolor illustration work as a perfect medium to infuse different expressions of each brand on empty Bearbricks.

"Why do you feel unhappy? you are giving too much space to the outside world. And you disappear." This illustration is part of a series of images published by an Italian magazine of psychological issues. The art director asked me to illustrate the theme of self-confidence: to be protagonist of our own life and our own image. I thought I could communicate this concept with a man who lives hidden in a cage which will protect himself from the world, what comes out is just a mere appearance of him, a puppet.

This was a fun illustration I did for the website jebkennedy.com, for their annual "month of monsters". I chose to do red riding hood and the big bad wolf because I thought it would be fun to exaggerate the size of the wolf (taking some inspiration from the t-rex in "Jurassic Park"). I feel like he thinks he's well hidden among those trees, and that if he doesn't move maybe she won't notice him, which is endlessly entertaining to me.
