Tech News: Using Your Nikon DSLR or Mirrorless Cam as a Webcam

Nikon recently made a splash with the introduction of the Z5, its new mirrorless camera. But the company also announced that it is releasing the beta for a “webcam utility software” in August that lets you use “many” of its DSLRs and Z mirrorless cameras. The software will be free, and available initially for Windows 10. Books: 'Oxford: The Last Hurrah,' by Dafydd Jones

In the 1980s, British photographer Dafydd Jones went to work for publications such as Tatler and Vanity Fair documenting what he has termed “elites that nobody had seen before.” It was, he notes, “Thatcher’s Britain, a period of celebration for those that had money. Industry News: Kodak Gets $765M Loan to Produce Drugs

Remember when Eastman Kodak was a photography company? The Hill reports that Kodak has received a $765 million government loan to help expedite the domestic production of drugs to treat a variety of medical conditions and loosen the country's reliance on foreign sources. The loan, which is the first of its kind under the Defense Production Act, will be used to produce ingredients for generic drugs.   Read the full Story >>

Honor Roll: The Kraszna-Krausz Book Awards Shortlist

The Kraszna-Krausz Book Awards has announced its 2020 longlist and shortlist, including artist-monographs and anthologies, critical responses to photography and film, and photo books addressing urgent topics, notes the British Journal of Photography. Among the longlist is The Canary and the Hammer by Lisa Barnard, published by MACK, and New Black Vanguard: Photography Between Art and Fashion by Antwaun Sargent, published by Aperture.
