Legal Brief: Photojournalists Sue Homeland Security for First Amendment Violations

Five freelance photojournalists have filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security for violation of their First Amendment rights, alleging that Customs and Border Patrol agents tracked, detained and interrogated them because of their coverage of immigration issues along the U.S-Mexico border in 2018 and 2019. The photojournalists —  all U.S. citizens — are Bing Guan, Go Nakamura, Kitra Cahana, Mark Abramson and Ariana Drehsler. Given the resolutely feminist perspective that Maria Grazia Chiuri has brought to Dior as the the fashion house’s first female creative director, it’s fitting that, for her latest campaign, she has enlisted six female photographers from across Africa and its diaspora to interpret the collection’s “richness of savoir-faire, pluralistic femininity and boundless creativity,” notes i-D.
