“Books are a beautiful promotional tool,” says photographer Jesse Burke, explaining why he published his 2015 book Wild & Precious — a road-trip travelog — as a way to take his commercial career in a new, fine-art direction. PDN talks with Burke about his publishing experience, along with photographer Lindsay Morris, whose 2015 book You Are You looks at a camp for non-gender-conforming children. Art News. 2: John Margolies's Odd America, at the LOC

Photographer John Margolies spent over three decades driving more than 100,000 miles across the U.S., looking for strange sculptures, odd signs, and structures fast-disappearing from the landscape. The work was collected in the 2010 book John Margolies: Roadside America, and now, a little over a decade after the photographer’s death, it is available via the Library of Congress, which has digitized and uploaded some 11,000 Margolies images. Social News: Instagram Adds Threaded Comments

The flat-style comments of Instagram are soon to be a thing of the past, and DIY Photography is happy about it: Instead, the social platform will be including  threaded comments, as Facebook did in 2013, making it easier to keep track of conversations and may also increase engagement. The feature has already started to roll out, coming with version 24 and above of the Instagram app for iOS and Android. It will be available globally in the coming weeks.   Read the full Story >>
