Mill Valley, California-based high-end printing and retouching service The Image Flow is inviting photographers in the Bay Area to submit digital work for a group exhibition that examines themes of identity and engagement. The exhibition, called “Reflect & Engage,” explores “the connection between ourselves, our immediate communities, and our larger global society,” notes the company. Fill in gaps in your knowledge of photo history — and perhaps find some inspiration — by browsing through vintage issues of Soviet Photo magazine, which you can find online at The trove contains 437 digitized issues of the magazine originally published between 1926 and 1991, notes PetaPixel. Tech News: The World's First 8K Monitor Costs $5K

The world’s first 8K monitor costs $5,000 — which, as DIY Photography notes, works out to roughly 66 pixels per cent. Dell’s UP3218K monitor  boasts a 31.5 inch IPS panel, which put it in the 280 pixels per inch realm. Contrast is 1,300:1, viewing angle is 178 degrees and color space covers 100 percent AdobeRGB, sRGB and RGB.  Will it come color calibrated right out of the box? During the recent failed attempts to replace Obamacare, President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence met with the far-right congressional Freedom Caucus to discuss, among other topics, stripping out requirements for covering maternity, newborn and pregnancy care. Pence tweeted a photo of the two dozen men at the gathering that political analysts later criticized  as a misogynistic public-relations gaffe.
