Tech News: The Sony FX5 Comes Closer to Being a Pro Cinema Camera

The new Sony FX5 is a compact cinema camera capable of up to 4.5K120 and Raw video capture, aimed at independent videographers and small productions. And, notes DP Review, it is a significant upgrade from the Sony FX that adds a host of new features. “It nominally sits above the FX3 but looks like it’s trying to do what the FX3 did, plus a lot more, making it most directly comparable to the likes of Canon’s C50 cinema camera,” adds DPR. Chicago White Sox photographers Darren Georgia and Sage Zipeto have strategies for capturing the drama of walk-off home runs—and they’ve had lots of opportunities to do just that this year. Sox right fielder Braden Montgomery’s homer on June 9 was the fifth of seven walk-off victories the White Sox delivered in the first half of the season, notes Sox Machine. “I told Sage, once it's hit, take the long lens and run out behind third [base] so you can get that shot of all the guys waiting for him at home plate," said Georgia.   Read the full Story >>

Legal Brief: Apple Sues OpenAI, Alleging Stolen Hardware Trade Secrets

Apple has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company and two former Apple employees of misappropriating confidential hardware information to accelerate OpenAI’s consumer hardware ambitions. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, names OpenAI, io Products, former Apple executive Tang Tan, and former Apple engineer Chang Liu as defendants, notes PetaPixel. According to the complaint, Apple first raised concerns with OpenAI in February and asked the company to investigate the alleged misconduct.
