Art News: Vsual Arts Charity Acquired Armet Francis Estate

For more than four decades, Jamaican-British photographer Armet Francis has captured capture “life-affirming moments that celebrate the resilience and survival of African diasporic cultures.” So notes UK-based visual arts charity Autograph, which has acquired the entire photographic estate of Francis, who is now 81. The major gift brings  more than 70,000 images into Autograph’s permanent photography collection, adds The Guardian. Social News: X adds a Video Editor to Encourage Creators to Post Original Content

Elon Musk’s social network X is introducing new video editing and recording features in hopes of encouraging creators to publish original content on its platform instead of recycling others’ material. The update will bring new features, including the ability to overlay video captions in multiple languages and customize their look, as well as green-screen tools that work with photos from your phone’s camera roll or other X posts. State of the Art: Tennessee Tourism Dept. Goes Anti-AI

To help Tennessee travelers verify where online photos were taken, the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development has launched a new campaign titled “It’s Real”—a program promising that the photos people see on the agency’s website – TNVacation.com – are not AI-generated. Tennessee Tourism’s certification includes content credentials and secure metadata to show travelers  the "who, when, where and what" behind the photos they are seeing. Tech News: FCC Cracks Down On Companies It Says Are Bringing DJI Tech into the US

Federal Communications Commission has started cracking down on several companies it believes could be helping DJI continue selling products in the country. The FCC announced it has issued $25,000 fines to each of eight companies, adds PetaPixel. These businesses have been described by industry observers as “DJI front companies” because they market or import products that appear to be closely tied to the Chinese drone maker while operating under different brand names.
