In 2019, after 27 years in downtown San Francisco, dealer Scott Nichols relocated his gallery to Sonoma in the heart of California’s wine country, where he continues to champion 20th-century image makers connected to California, more specifically works by the seminal Group f.64. “What excites me about Group f.64 is that they were the modern radicals of the period that first exhibited as a group in 1932. Photographer Jack Davison recently told his 366,000 Instagram followers that he has been “coming up against it [AI] more and more in the commercial space,” adding that, personally, it’s a line he won’t cross. The International Center of Photography’s (ICP) Photobook Fest is returning for a fifth year from May 8 to 10. The event is a weekend-long celebration of photography books. Attendees have access to workshops, panels, and book signings with more than 80 international publishers, including Magnum Photos, Loose Joints Publishing, MACK, and Thames & Hudson.
