A bill in Colorado is a glimpse into the future of how corporations are working to limit the freedom people have to make their own fixes and upgrades, notes Wired. Lobbyists for major tech firms like Cisco and IBM are trying to push through legislation in the state that would drastically roll back a groundbreaking right-to-repair law under the guise of protecting national security and data centers, adds 404 Media. GoPro iis laying off about 145 employees as it tries to cut operating costs and restructure operations, notes Business Insider. The layoffs make up 23% of its global headcount of 631 employees, the camera maker said in a regulatory filing. The latest round of layoffs follows previous workforce reductions in 2024 and comes after a challenging financial period, explains PetaPixel: GoPro reported a year-end revenue decline in its 2025 financial results, including a $9 million loss in the fourth quarter. Photographer Abdulhamid Kircher’s latest photo book, New Genesis, pieces together a portrait of his friend Sierra Kiss and her young family. The book, notes Dazed, is in part a love letter to someone in need, bearing witness to the complexity of a life impacted by a collision of homelessness, addiction, young motherhood and domestic abuse. It also reveals “the endless ways American systems of care – from shelters to churches and social services – have been eroded by chronic underfunding and government policy,” adds the magazine.
