Trending: The Washington Post Fires All of Its Staff Photographers

The Washington Post carried out a widespread round of layoffs on Wednesday that decimated the organization’s sports, local news and international coverage—and, as reported by The New York Times, its photography department. The company laid off about 30 percent of all its employees, including 300 of the roughly 600 journalists in its newsroom. All of the newspaper’s staff photographers lost their jobs, according to The Times. On View: The Triumph of Graciela Iturbide

Last year, Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbide received Spain’s prestigious Princess of Asturias Prize for the Arts, making her only the second Latin American photographer (after Sebastião Salgado)  to earn the award. Her work is now on view at Throckmorton Fine Art in New York City in the exhibition“Graciela Iturbide: Vintage,” which Artnet calls a “best-in-class” showing of Iturbide’s most celebrated photographs in rare vintage prints.
