The Peter Hujar Archive and Foundation is departing its longtime representative, Pace Gallery, notes Art News: New York–based gallery Ortuzar will now jointly represent the Hujar Archive and Foundation with the Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco. The late artist’s archive had been represented by Pace/MacGill, the photography-focused gallery that was merged into Pace in 2020. Dozens of brides in North Carolina claim a Raleigh-based photographer has stopped responding to calls and messages after collecting thousands of dollars for upcoming services. With some couples’ wedding dates just weeks away, the brides told WTVD they paid Holly Christina Photography deposits or full fees for wedding photography and, in many cases, engagement sessions. “We believe the company has collected at least $160,000 from us collectively,” one bride told WRAL news. Holly Christina Photography bills itself as “a God-focused team built on connection, trust, and a shared passion for telling meaningful stories through artful imagery,” notes the Independent. Marian Goodman, a renowned New York art dealer who favored artwork that was difficult, abstruse and sometimes unsalable, and who played a key role in bringing avant-garde European art to prominence in the 1980s, died on Jan. 22 in Los Angeles. She was 97, notes The New York Times. Although known for promoting German painters, Goodman also evinced a taste for artists who shunned painting altogether in favor of newer and more cerebral mediums.
