Passings: Craig, the 'Super Tusker' African Elephant Who Starred in Photos, Dies at 54

Kenyans are mourning the death of Craig, a beloved “super tusker” elephant whose long life in the wild came to symbolize the country's increasingly successful efforts to protect the mammals from ivory poachers. The bull elephant, who died on Jan. 3 at age 54, lived in Amboseli National Park, a protected area in southern Kenya that is a favorite of safari tourists and photographers, notes ABC News. “At well over 50, he was a wise and beloved patriarch, a constant presence that shaped one of Kenya’s most iconic landscapes,” noted the photographers Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier at Instagram.   Read the full Story >>

CES is normally a place for big tech news, but this year's show could add a dash of political intrigue to the mix, notes Mashable: At 1 a.m. on Thursday in Las Vegas, Federal Communications Commission chair  Brendan Carr is scheduled to take part in a a "fireside chat" at the show, along with Consumer Technology Association CEO Gary Shapiro and FTC chairman Andrew Ferguson.
