Legal Brief: Court Sides With Pinterest in Copyright Case Brought by Photographer Over Push Notifications

A California federal judge has granted summary judgment in favor of Pinterest in a proposed class action brought by a photographer who accused the company of unlawfully displaying copyrighted photographs in promotional emails and notifications. The lawsuit was brought by Maureen Harrington on behalf of the estate of professional photographer Blaine Harrington III, notes PetaPixel. The court rejected the plaintiffs argument, finding the social media platform is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act’s (DMCA) safe harbor provision.   Read the full Story >>

Passings: Jean-Jacques Naudet, Editor and Photography Impresario, Dies at 81

Jean-Jaques Naudet, the founder and publisher of L’Oeil de la Photographie and a longtime presence in the world of international photography as the editor of France’s Photo magazine and later as a US-based correspondent for Paris Match and editor at large for American Photo magazine, died on Jan. 18 of a heart attack, notes Blind magazine. He was 81. “Jean-Jacques loved Photography; even more, he loved photographers.
