Exhibitions: The Chicago Haven for Gay Men During the AIDS Era

During the summer of 1985, Belmont Rocks, on the Lake Michigan shore, became both a site for pleasure and solace for gay men in Chicago as the AIDS epidemic devastated their community, The lakefront stretch was a haven until the early 2000s, when it was demolished. Doug Ischar, then an aspiring photographer, documented the scene and, notes CNN, his images are included in the exhibition “City in a Garden: Queer Art and Activism in Chicago” at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (through May 31, 2026.)   Read the full Story >>

Tech News: Adobe is Now Tracking Generative Credit Use

Just over a year ago, Adobe warned that its powerful AI tools in Photoshop and Lightroom would be limited by generative credits. Users, however, found that if they depleted their allotment of credits, they could still use AI tools, though they might experience slower performance. Now that era is over, notes PetaPixel, which reports that Adobe is finally tracking generative credit use across the Creative Cloud ecosystem. State of the Art: Denmark Fights deepfakes by Giving People Copyright Over Their Own Features

The Danish government is aiming to clamp down on the creation and dissemination of AI-generated deepfakes by ensuring that everybody has the right to copyright their own body, facial features and voice. Having secured broad cross-party agreement, Denmark’s department of culture plans to submit a proposal to amend the current copyright law, notes The Guardian. The Danish culture minister, Jakob Engel-Schmidt, said he hoped the bill before parliament would send an “unequivocal message” that everybody had the right to the way they looked and sounded.   Read the full Story >>
