Business Report: Global Ad Spending Set to Reach $1.08 trillion in 2025

Global advertising spending reached a significant milestone last year, surpassing $1 trillion for the first time, according to a report  from marketing platform WARC. That figure is expected to grow by 10.7 percent in 2025, reaching a total of $1.08 trillion. Over the past decade, global ad spend has more than doubled and has been growing at a rate 2.8 times faster than global economic output since 2014, reflecting the increasing complexity and diversity of media channels available to marketers, notes Campaign.   Read the full Story >>

Photographers in New York City are being told to stay vigilant after a string of violent camera robberies. There have been at least four robberies in recent days, taking place in Greenwich Village and Times Square, with thieves targeting professional and amateur photographers, notes PetaPixel. A 67-year-old photographer was pushed to the ground during a robbery near the New York University campus in Greenwich Village on February 12. Law enforcement sources told NBC New York  that they believe a group of robbers are behind the attacks, which have all targeted Sony cameras.   Read the full Story >>

See It Now: A Film for Everyone Obsessed by Martin Parr

All artists are obsessive, I think.” So says British photographer Martin Parr, the subject of a new film appropriately titled I Am Martin Parr. The film, notes The Face, is essential viewing for anyone who is obsessed by Parr and his work. There are photo walks, and then there are photo walks to the quantum realm: On May 27, twenty photographers will be given an opportunity to explore CERN,  the world’s largest particle physics laboratory, near Geneva, Switzerland. For the competition, titled  “CERN Photowalk 2025: Future Colliders,” the laboratory will open the doors to four unique spaces and photographers will discover some of the technologies that will be needed for the machines of the future.  The competition is open to all photographers.
