President Donald Trump’s long-threatened tariffs against Canada and Mexico went into effect today, putting global markets on edge, noted AP. Imports from Canada and Mexico are now to be taxed at 25%, with Canadian energy products subject to 10% import duties. The 10% tariff that Trump placed on Chinese imports in February was doubled to 20%. Both Canada and China quickly retaliatedby imposing tariffs on U.S. goods. Legal Brief: Meta Sues Photographer for Illegally Selling Instagram Handles for $50K

Meta has filed a lawsuit against a photographer, accusing him of selling Instagram handles — marking the first time the company has taken this type of legal action in the US, notes PetaPixel.   According to a report by Business Insider, Meta claims that photographer and entrepreneur Daniel Folger has been selling Instagram usernames and recovering banned accounts, profiting illegally from these activities. Passings: Architectural Photographer and Political Activist Elizabeth Felicella Dies at 58

Architectural photographer, artist, writer, and political activist Elizabeth Felicella, who died on Dec. 22, 2024, after a two-year battle with leukemia, embodied the precept that “to live is leave traces,” notes The Architect’s Newspaper. “An acutely conceptual photographer, New York was her muse,” adds TAN, noting that in 2016, the Center for Architecture exhibited “Reading Room: A Catalog of New York City’s Branch Libraries,” a selection from over 2,000 of Felicella's photographs, taken with a large-format camera, of the city’s 210 branch libraries, inside and out.   Read the full Story >>
