The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston recently announced its acquisition of 38 photographs by Robert Frank, all made while Frank was in Paris in 1949. Some offer glimpses of street scenes such as children watching a blind street performer and a “circus” trolley car. The images were taken when Swiss-born Frank returned to Europe after living in New York for two years and are currently on view as part of the exhibition “Robert Frank: Mary’s Book” at the MFA Boston through June 22, 2025, notes Art News.

Hostilities are taking place in more than 170 locations across the globe and women are suffering the effects more than at any time since the second world war, notes The Guardian, which recently talked with female photojournalists about their experiences covering conflict. Among them is Julia Kochetova, a young photojournalist from Ukraine who has also been documenting the war in her homeland. War photography, she says, is “not just about the hardware of war, which I hate – it’s about the humanity you experience when you’re on an assignment.”

Google’s latest AI tool works differently from most image generators, which require long text prompts. Instead, the tool, called Whisk, lets users generate images using other pictures as prompts and “remixes” them together to create new works, notes PetaPixel. Users simply drag and drop pictures into the tool to define the subject, scene, and style of their AI-generated image. For those without images on hand, a dice icon allows Google to supply AI-generated images as prompts. Users also have the option to fill in text prompts.
