A freelance photographer and local government official from Illinois has been arrested on charges alleging he joined the Jan, 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and pushed against a police officer’s riot shield. Patrick Gorski, 27, was arrested in Chicago on charges including obstructing law enforcement officers during a civil disorder, a felony. A federal judge ordered him released on bond after his initial court appearance. When the FBI interviewed him, Gorski did not claim that he was working as a photojournalist during riot and said he didn’t bring his professional camera to the Capitol, notes the AP.

Ben James lives in the UK, but he travels far and wide to explore and photograph abandoned buildings for his Instagram page, @places_forgotten. He recently made a horrendous discovery when he explored a burned-out funeral home in Cobb County, Georgia—more than 30 urns and bags of human ashes and a jar with fetus inside. “You’ve got to wonder where the families are for these people. Why haven’t they been picked up? And also, do the families even know they are in there?” James tells WSB-2 Atlanta. He tipped off authorities, who have launched an investigation, adds FOX-5 Atlanta.

It’s Nice That Monday November 25, 2024
Established in 1920, Marymass is a traditional horse festival held every August in Irvine, Scotland. The event includes horse racing, fireworks, and parades, as well as a greasy pole challenge in which competitors try to climb a totem that has been covered with thick brown grease. The prize? A juicy ham donated by a local butcher, wrapped in black parchment and secured at the top of the pole.
