A photographer missing for six days in Australia’s Snowy Mountains has been found "dazed and injured" by emergency services after a massive search and rescue operation. New South Wales Police said Lovisa Sjoberg was suffering from a suspected snake bite, dehydration and a rolled ankle, notes the BBC. Sjoberg, 48, is a regular visitor to the remote Kosciuszko National Park, where she often documents wild horses. She had been "wandering [for] days" through "tough" bushland, and told rescuers she believed she had been bitten by a copperhead snake four days before being found.   Read the full Story >>

As sea levels rise and extreme weather becomes more common, experts say that Britain’s traditional defenses — sea walls, tidal barriers and sandbanks — will be insufficient to meet the threat. But on a tendril of land curling out from the coast of Somerset, in southwestern England, scientists, engineers and conservationists have embraced a radical solution, notes The New York Times: Tidal waters were allowed to flood the Steart Peninsula in 2014 for the first time in centuries, creating a vast marshland. Honor Roll: Nature Photographer Clyde Butcher Receives 2022 National Medal of Arts

Landscape and environmental photographer Clyde Butcher received a 2022 National Medal of Arts award for photography from President Joe Biden on Oct. 21 at a White House ceremony, notes the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. The Florida-based photographer and conservationist was one of 20 National Medal of Arts winners from 2022 and 2023 who received their awards from Biden.
