Night Sky News: Astrophotography Opportunities for November

Get ready for the last supremoon of 2024, which will light up the night sky on Nov. 15. Then the following night Mercury will be at it greatest eastern elongation. “Although it remains low on the western horizon after sunset, this will be the best opportunity to catch a glimpse of this planet and to photograph it with a wide-angle or a telephoto lens,” notes DIY Photography, which has a rundown of astrophotography opportunities for November. In Focus: Capturing the Vanishing Glaciers

Two decades ago Greenpeace asked photographer Christian Åslund to document how glaciers in Sweden’s Svalbard archipelago were melting due to global heating, using photographs taken in the early 20th century as a frame of reference. The difference in ice density between those two periods, as shown in Åslund images, was staggering. This past summer, notes The Guardian, Åslund visited those same places in Svalbard again. Tech News: Apple's Redesigned Mac Mini with M4 chip is 'So Damn Small'

Apple has been debuting some new Macs, including  a redesigned Mac Mini that, notes The Verge, is more powerful  and yet also “so damn small.” The new Mac Mini has a footprint less than half the size of its predecessor, measuring just five by five inches, features Apple’s latest M4 silicon, and ships with 16GB of RAM by default. The machine still starts at $599 with the regular M4 chip, while the more powerful M4 Pro model has a starting price of $1,399.
