Before Anya Taylor-Joy moved her first pawn in The Queen’s Gambit, Faye Dunaway played a glamorous game of chess with Steve McQueen in The Thomas Crown Affair. A photo of Dunaway is included in the book  Chess Players, published in association with the International Chess Federation as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. State of the Art: Google AI Reintroduces Human Image Generation after Accuracy Outcry

Google's Gemini AI model is once again able to generate images of humans after that function was "paused" in February following outcry over historically inaccurate racial depictions in many results. Google said that its Imagen 3 model will "start to roll out the generation of images of people" to Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users. But, notes Ars Technica,  a version of that Imagen model—complete with human image-generation capabilities—was recently made available to the public via the Gemini Labs test environment without a paid subscriptio (A Google account is needed to log in).   Read the full Story >>

Trending: Accused of a Crime for Taking a Ballot Selfie, She's Now Suing

North Carolina resident Susan Hogarth visited her local school in March to vote in a primary election. After doing so, she held the completed ballot under her chin and took a photo of herself with her phone, then posted the selfie from the voting booth on X. The next week, Hogarth received a letter from the North Carolina State Board of Elections that accused her of committing a misdemeanor: North Carolina is one of several states that prohibit taking photos or videos of filled-in ballots, notes The Washington Post.
