Tech News: Hipstamatic Leverages Apple's Live Photos to Make Digital Images

Hipstamatic, the digital app that leans into analog vibes, hs announced what it calls a “new homage” to classic image making that uses Apple’s Live Photos feature to generate lenticular images, similar to the images made by sequential multi-lens cameras of the 1990s. Called “Action Sampler Mode,” the new feature uses the short video clips captured by Live Photos to create GIF-like photo series. See It Now: 2024 ICP Recent Graduates Exhibition

On view from May 18 through Sept. 2, the International Center of Photography in New York features images from graduates of four of ICP’s education programs: the full-time, onsite One-Year Certificate Programs in both Creative Practices and Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism; the 2023 One-Year Certificate class from the Documentary Practice: Visual Storytelling Online program; and the Teen Academy Imagemakers program. The American Photography Archives Group, a non-profit resource organization for people who own or manage privately held photography archives, is holding its 2024 benefit auction online at Artsy on May 22. The auction features iconic photos of Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, Mick Jagger, Madonna, Louis Armstrong, Jerry Garcia, and The Band, taken by photographers including Elliott Landy, Bob Gruen, Stephanie Berger and Jerry Dantzic. Legal Brief: Supreme Court Rules That Copyright Damages Have No Time Limit
