Several major news agencies, including Associated Press and Agence France-Presse, have withdrawn an image distributed by Kensington Palace showing Catherine, Princess of Wales, and her children, saying they believe the photo has been manipulated. The photograph is the first officially released image of the princess since she underwent abdominal surgery in January, and comes after weeks of intense public speculation and mounting social media conspiracy theories as to her exact whereabouts and health, reports CNN. The Nikon Z9 flagship professional mirrorless camera will be the handheld camera of choice for astronauts going to the moon in the upcoming Artemis III mission, notes PetaPixel. Nikon has announced an agreement with NASA to support the development of the Handheld Universal Lunar Camera (HULC). As implemented in the HULC system, the Z9 will be modified to withstand the unforgiving environment of the lunar surface. Nikon and NASA engineers are, for instance, redesigning various circuits and control sequences within the Z9 to withstand the vast amounts of radiation, notes Photo.net.

French New Wave film director Agnes Varda’s still photography was a star at last summer’s Arles photo festival. (See our post from August.) Now L.A.’s Fahey/Klein Gallery is featuring “Desire to See: Photographs by Agnès Varda,” the first exhibition in the United States dedicated exclusively to Varda’s photography. The exhibition, which runs through April 13, showcases self-portraits, “offering an introspective look into the artist’s identity" alongside portraits of fellow artists, including Alexander Calder, Salvador Dalí and Federico Fellini, notes the gallery.
