Trending: James Hamilton Documentary to Premier in April

Photographer James Hamilton shot everyone from LL Cool J and Alfred Hitchcock to Muhammad Ali and Meryl Streep. The documentary Uncropped, which explores Hamilton’s work over decades for The Village Voice, Harper’s Bazaar, and The New York Observer, will have a theatrical opening on April 26 at IFC Center in New York, accompanied by Q&As with the filmmakers, Hamilton and special guests. The film will be released on digital platforms on May 7, notes Deadline. The film opens a window onto “the heyday of independent journalism,” notes a press release.   Read the full Story >>

Leica has announced the recipients of its fifth annual Leica Women Foto Project Award—Camille Farrah Lenain (US), Stasia Schmidt (Canada), Luvia Lazo {Mexico) and Adenike Sogsbesan, also known as Dola Posh (the UK). “For this year’s Leica Women Foto Project, we encouraged applicants to share visual stories of reclamation, resilience, or rebirth,” notes Karin Kaufmann, art director of all Leica galleries worldwide, at The Washington Post. Tech News: The Most Important Cameras of 2024, So Far

As of the end of February, the current has seen a wealth of new cameras, notes DP Review, which has a list of the biggest releases thus far in 2024. Among them: the Fujifilm X100VI, which is already backordered at some retailers, the Sony a9 III, which introduced a global shutter, and the OM System OM-1 Mark II, a high-speed Micro Four Thirds camera based around a 20MP Stacked CMOS sensor.
