Founded almost 40 years ago, Houston’s Fotofest biennial has earned a reputation as one of the premier photography events in the US. This year’s edition, which runs through April 21, features what The Guardian calls an “ambitious program” of exhibitions, portfolio reviews and artist talks. The central show, titled Critical Geographies, “reexamines traditional Western and historical understandings of geography while expanding these investigations to new realms” with “a diverse range of image-based practices.”

‘Kate Gate’ continues: Getty Images says that a photograph of Queen Elizabeth and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taken in 2022 by the Princess of Wales and released by Kensington Palace last year, was digitally manipulated. The news sparked a second royal retouching controversy, after the release of a doctored photo of Catherine and her children, notes CNN. The second altered photo raises further thorny questions about how Britain’s royal family communicates with the public, adds The New York Times.

Celebrity photographer and acting coach Kenneth Howard Dolin was arrested rcently after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his photography studio. Police believe there may be additional victims, reports KNBC. A 29-year-old woman reported that Dolin sexually assaulted her at his Wilshire Division home/studio, police said. A follow-up investigation revealed that Dolin was accused of sexual assault in 2017 by two other women.
