State of the Art: AI Editing App is Raising $50M-$60M at a $500M-$600M Valuation

Apps that let users take, manipulate and share images have been some of the biggest hits in the world of mobile over the years. Now the influx of AI is cracking open the market for a new wave of startups to step into the ring, notes TechCrunch, which reports that PhotoRoom — a startup out of Paris that has built a popular AI-based image editing app and API targeting e-commerce vendors and media specialists, is in the process of closing a round of funding. Sources say the startup is raising between $50 million and $60 million on a pre-money valuation of between $500 million and $600 million.   Read the full Story >>

Exhibitions: "Personal Projects By Veterans"

Through Feb. 17, the Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Denver is featuring “Through Their Lenses: Personal Projects by Veterans”—an exhibition of fine-art photography created by 10 Colorado artists who have served in the U.S. military. The exhibition is the culmination of CPAC’s Veterans Workshop Series, a six-month program of advanced photography courses provided to participants free of charge. “Each project is intensely personal,” notes CPAC. Social News: Instagram's New Teen Safety Features Still Fall Short, Critics Say

Meta has unveiled further limits on what teens can see Instagram and Facebook, but, notes The Washington Post, critics say the move doesn’t go far enough to protect young people from encountering harmful content. Already, teens could opt to have Instagram’s algorithm recommend less “sensitive content” — steering them away from bare bodies, violence, drugs, firearms, weight-loss videos and discussions of self-harm. Now, Meta says, the apps it will hide sensitive content even if it is posted by friends or creators whom teens follow.   Read the full Story >>
