The crypto world may be upside down, but the art world is marching on: Online art gallery Saatchi Art has announced Visions of the Future, a new jury-curated NFT auction featuring works by 50 fine art photographers, opening in August. The project follows on the heels of the gallery’s first NFT collection, which sold out to the public in just 20 minutes earlier this year, notes the gallery in a press release. The auction event, “inspired by the massive changes society has undergone in the last decade since the online gallery’s founding,” looks to artists “to envision and explore what the future might look like,” adds the gallery. A U.S. Federal Communications commissioner is calling on Apple and Google to remove TikTok from their app stores over concerns that user data from the platform is being accessed in China, notes The Washington Post. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr raised worries over TikTok’s Chinese ownership, saying “it harvests swaths of sensitive data.” Carr referenced a recent BuzzFeed News report that revealed that Beijing-based employees of TikTok’s parent company had repeatedly accessed private information on U.S. users.
