Since making his name in fashion photography, Jamie Hawkesworth has used any available space in his work schedule to go on trips to places he hasn’t visited before. But rather than being a means to establish himself as a travel photographer, the trips have served as opportunities to simply take photographs of people in the places he finds them, notes Aperture magazine. The Ukrainian photographer and documentary maker Maks Levin has been found dead near the capital, Kyiv, after going missing more more than two weeks ago, reports Radio Free Europe. Levin had not been heard from since March, noted The Guardian. His body was found near the village of Huta-Mezhyhirska on April 1, says RFE. Reporters Without Borders confirmed the report on Twitter, saying Levin was killed “like five other journalists since Russia launched its unprovoked war on Ukraine.” Read the full Story >>

Alison Wright, a documentary photographer, author and public speaker who travelled the globe documenting endangered cultures, people and issues concerning the human condition, died on March 24 after suffering a heart attack while diving in the Azores, according to a statement from her brother on Facebook. (See also Wright's Wikipedia entry." Wright’s mages have been published in numerous magazines including National Geographic, Time, Oprah and American Photo. She was a two-time winner of the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award and was named a 2013 National Geographic Traveler of the Year. Her books include the memoir Learning to Breathe: One Woman's Journey of Spirit and Survival. In 2000, Wright was nearly killed in an accident in Laos, when the bus she was riding was hit by a logging truck.Her story of survival has been featured in Outside and other magazines.
