The Scan of the Month the team uses computed tomography scanning—an imaging technique often reserved for medical settings—to photograph the internal components of consumer products like LEGOs and Apple AirPods. The featured product in February was three icon instant cameras—the Polaroid 600 AF, Polaroid Go and Fujifilm Instax. Art News: Christie's to Sell Richard Gere Photo Collection

Actor Richard Gere hesitates to call himself a photography collector. “I just started buying things that I liked,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. Nonetheless, Christie’s will be auctioning “The Richard Gere Collection”  from March 23 to April 7. The 156 lots included in the sale span the history of the medium, beginning with photographs by 19th-century pioneers such as Gustave Le Gray and Carleton Watkins and moving onward to pieces by early 20th-century icons such as Tina Modotti, Edward Weston, Manuel Álvarez Bravo and Alfred Stieglitz.   Read the full Story >>

Social News: State Attorneys General Open TikTok Investigation

A bipartisan group of state attorneys general announced recently that it had opened an investigation into TikTok and potential harms that the popular social media app may pose to younger users, reports The New York Times. At least eight states are investigating if the design and promotion of TikTok contribute to physical and mental health harms for teenagers and young adults and if the company has violated state consumer protection laws.    Read the full Story >>

Spotlight: Ukrainian Photographer Igor Chekachkov on Identity

Currently working in the city of Lviv as a fixer, helping the international press document the crisis in Ukraine, photographer Igor Chekachkov reflects on identity with his own person project “NA4JOPM8,” notes the British Journal of Photography. The work began with a damaged hard drive containing thousands of images from Chekachkov’s archive. When some of the images were recovered, he found them fragmented and discolored. “I started to look through these images, trying to reevaluate my past and reconcile myself to the loss,” he says.   Read the full Story >>
