Addendum: Thieves Steal Gallery Owner's Multimillion-Dollar NFT Collection

Collectors and artists of all kinds are jumping into the NFT zone, and apparently so are art thieves. Art News reports that Todd Kramer, owner of New York’s Ross + Kramer Gallery, suffered a loss when a phishing scam drained his Ethereum wallet of 15 NFTs valued at a total of $2.2 million. “The thief seemed to have sold off many of the pieces in Kramer’s collection, and Twitter users jeered at Kramer’s bad luck, pointing out that he had bet on an unregulated, decentralized system that would be unable to help him,” adds AN.   Read the full Story >>

State of the Art: The Highest-Res Image of Artwork, Ever

The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has released what it says the highest resolution photo of artwork ever captured—a 717-gigapixel image of Rembrandt’s painting The Night Watch. The image is four times sharper than the previous high-definition photograph of The Night Watch, which the Rijksmuseum published around 18 months ago, notes FAD magazine, meaning you can now zoom in even further on minute particles of pigment in the painting. What We're Reading: Photographers Share Their New Year's Resolutions

“No matter your stance on resolutions, the beginning of a year is a good time to check in and make some plans,” notes BuzzFeed, which has asked a number of photographers what they resolve to do—or not to do—in 2022.  “Something I have been working on this year and will continue to move towards in the new year is balance — perhaps that will be a lifelong feat? I want more balance between making my own work and making the work I get paid for,” says Yael Malka. "I’m a pretty anxious and pessimistic person, but I’m going to make an optimistic resolution to try to put some good energy into the universe,” notes Jamie Lee Taete.
