Tech News: Adobe Launches Creative Cloud Express, a New Entry-Level Platform

Citing the growth of the creator economy and the rise of sales through social channels, Adobe has launched Creative Cloud Express, a new platform designed for fast turnaround and is aimed at those who have never used Adobe products before. “Adobe has clearly decided that it has reached critical mass with its professional suite of applications and has found a way to expand its customer base to anyone who wants to create something,” notes PetaPixel. The company says the power of Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and other professional apps will exist in Creative Cloud Express, but without the complication.   Read the full Story >>

Passings: Houston FotoFest Co-Founder Fred Baldwin Dies at 92

Fred Baldwin, a photographer and educator who along with photographer Wendy Watriss founded Houston FotoFest in 1983, died on December 17, notes the Houston Chronicle. Baldwin and Watriss got the idea for the citywide biennial photography event after attending Les Rencontres d’Arles, the important photography festival in France. FotoFest also grew out of frustration with a system in which photographic exhibitions were rigid and small-scale. Baldwin told the Chronicle in 2019, “We wanted to give back because we knew things. Smithsonian weighs in with its take on the best photo books of the year. On the list: Tim Flach’s most recent book, Birds, which features vividly colorful images of birds inspired by bird illustrators of the Victorian era like John J. Audubon.
