Spotlight: Rafael Pavarotti Illuminates Black Bodies

“The celebration of Black and indigenous experience specifically will always be a part of my work, because it’s also a part of me,” says photographer Rafael Pavarotti, who was born in Brazil in 1993, in a small village deep in the Amazon rainforest. As an Afro-Indigenous Brazilian photographer, he tells the British Journal of Photography, his “existence and work are already political,” adding that the possibilities fashion photography offers him to talk about everything, from politics to utopias to history.
